Holden has introduced satellite navigation as an option across the whole of the VT Commodore and Calais range. The system uses the Philips Car Information and Navigation (CARiN) system, which combines information from satellite positioning, CD-ROM maps and vehicle speed and direction inputs. Guidance information is delivered as spoken instructions and is displayed on a colour monitor in the form of maps and pictograms. The system carries a price of A$4,495.







Saab 9-3 TS

Saab has released a cosmetic upgrade to the 9-3. Available only on the three door coupe, the pack comprises a full sports body kit and 16 inch alloy wheels. Power is from the standard light pressure turbo 2 lire four that delivers 113kW at 5500 rpm and 219Nm at 3600 rpm.

Former race driver Allan Moffat recently tested a number of tyres for GT Radial importers, Independent Tyre Distributors. Not surprisingly, Moffat rated the GT highly, suggesting that they had the best turn-in and rear grip over nine other "leading brands of tyres". See www.itdtyres.com.au for more.

Toyota has released a new body kit for the Corolla. Comprising front and rear spoilers, side skirts, wheel arch flares (!) and a mesh radiator grille, the kit can be matched with 14 or 15 inch alloys.
